Magnetic fields across the H-R diagram

I will give an overview of the latest observational results on magnetic fields in stars of different mass ranges and evolutionary stages. It will include striking discoveries and statistical field properties for groups of stars. In parallel, the proposed explanations for the origin and consequences of these fields will be presented. With a few recent case studies, it will also be illustrated how asteroseismology can help us to understand stellar magnetism.
